Visits to USA and Canada by Don Nicol and John Hardie

Don Nicol & John Hardie visit Westholme Wagyu herds in Texas - USA and Calgary - Canada and inspect Westholme sires at Iowa - USA.

During March Don Nicol & John Hardie visited with Sam Castleberry at VRS Texas and inspected the Wagyu donor herd recently acquired by Westholme. This herd comprises the remaining Japan born and registered Wagyu donors which were exported from Japan 4 years ago. Embryos by USA based sires 001, 002 & 003 and Japan based sires 005, 006 & 007 are produced for shipment to Australia and implanting at Westholme Tarana NSW.

John Hardie  & Don Nicol visited Calgary Canada for 2 days to inspect the Westholme donor herd. Embryos produced here by Iowa based sires 001, 002 & 003 and by Japan based sires 005, 006 & 007 are shipped to Westholme Tarana for recipient implanting.

USA visit by Don Nicol and John Hardie included a short visit to Hawkeye Breeding Services in Iowa to inspect the 3 sires 001 Hirashige-Tayasu, 002 Itomoritaka and 003 Kitateruyasu-doi.


Chris Walker visits Westholme feeder cattle nearing slaughter in Kansai Japan and also holds meetings with officials at Kobe Quarantine.

Chris Walker visited Japan in April 2001 and during this time inspected cattle at feedlots in Kansai with Hirai-san President of Nitchiku Co. based in Kobe Japan.

Quarantine officials at Kobe Quarantine were also visited. Kobe is one of the first ports of entry for many calves shipped from Westholme Group in Australia to Japan.
