• Timing of the 1st is Sep 10 at Chiba-prefecture, the second is Nov 21
at Sarufutsu of Hokkaido and the third is Nov 30 at Gunma prefecture.
• Cause is attributed to feed imported from Europe.
• All three cases are dairy cattle.
• Government commences implementation of controls and restrictions on
feeding, abattoir procedures and entry of meat into the human food
chain.
• Market is disrupted due to quick and significant decline in beef
consumption. Industry expects 6-12 months impact.
