June 2000

A• June Shipment of 44 feeder calves successfully reaches customers in Japan via FedEx.

On June 25th the second shipment of feeder calves consisting of 270Kg steers and 250Kg culled heifers cleared Japan Quarantine and were shipped to various customers in Japan.

These calves from both Westholme and Gooree Park were in feed barns on Westholme for two months and during this time also completed quarantine requirements for AQUIS.

They then were shipped by road to Sydney international Airport and flown to KIX overnight for entry into Kobe Quarantine on June 8th.

All quarantine and airfreight arrangements both in Australia and Japan proceeded smoothly.

B• Heavy un-seasonal snow at Westholme - Tarana causes loss of 2 newborn calves.

On May 30th heavy snow at Westholme resulting in 2ft on the high country and 2" on the low country caused difficulty for calving recipients.
